Timber Frame Primer
We begin by hand selecting large timbers from dismantled commercial buildings and barns.
Our designers then determine the timber sizes required for a particular job.
The timbers are then carefully resawn and resurfaced.
Using time honored joinery, Glenville's artisans handcraft antique timbers into works of art.
Finally, the "cutoffs" from the mill are saved and manufactured into flooring and millwork of uncommon beauty.
Antique timbers are also perfect for many other special applications. We have created porches, fireplace mantels and hearths for a number of different applications. These are all custom applications and are totally open to your imagination and needs.
Some unusual past examples are garden trellises, head and foot boards for beds, garden sheds, and many others. We have also done a number of "decorative restorations". This involves adding the look of antique, heavy timbers to an existing great room or dining room. The results will astound you!
