HOW DO WE SHOW OUR TRUE COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT?

We us recycled, reclaimed timbers, no new trees are cut for our frames. We were the first business in Sauk County to use rain gardens in a commercial application, for years we’ve used biodiesel in our forklift and truck. We use recycled brick and pavers. We pressured panel companies to cut our window and door openings at their factory, thus saving landfill costs and time on the job site, passing the savings on to the consumer. We’re proud to say that we built Sauk County’s first “green” factory with recycled steel roofing, reclaimed timbers, reclaimed brick, reclaimed pavers, and included a high tech energy efficient TARM wood burning stove with a secondary ceramic burn chamber that reburns the gases and exceeds California’s emission standards.

WHAT ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS?

Reclaimed Timbers—Restoring The Hidden Beauty

Glenville Timberwrights has had a long-time commitment to the environment . We were practicing our “green” philosophy long before the concept came into vogue as the recognized way to build in an earthy-friendly fashion. No new trees are cut for our frames! Reclaimed timbers , harvested from deconstructed industrial buildings are remilled, surface planed and fashioned into the posts and beams that will make up your new frame. We design in four foot modules which make the best use of available building materials, since all construction materials are sold in two foot increments.

Timber Framing In Progress

WE ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY:
IT DOESN’T GET ANY GREENER THAN THIS!

For the past seventeen years, we have used reclaimed timbers recovered from 19th and early 20th century Midwest factories and warehouses. By incorporating these timbers into our structures as the raw material for our projects, we give these old growth Douglas fir and yellow pine timbers a second life as the bones in our new 21st century homes. No new trees are cut for our frames!

At Glenville Timberwrights we have for many years set the example for green building. By incorporating reclaimed materials for our buildings, designing structures to make the best use of the sun’s natural energies and enclosing our homes in a superinsulated blanket, we have always been committed to environmentally sound design. Where other companies might use the term “green building” as a marketing tool, we have consistently over the years used green building techniques which protect our environment as the core of our being.

We have found that building green has been good for our business. People understand that we need to care for the earth. They gravitate to us not only because of the quality of our work, but because of our commitment to environmental stewardship. It has been our experience that people want to align themselves with companies that care about saving this beautiful planet. In short, we have found that our business does well by doing good.
